days left in the school year.

Mathematical litercy, like literacy in language is crucial. As in language, math has its own vocabulary and grammar, it just happens to be in the form of numbers and mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These operations are critical to success in mathematics and starts with mastering the basic math facts. What I mean by this is that students must be able to add and subtract multiple digit numbers in their heads, and to master the times tables to 10 x 10 (to start with).

The links in the Math Help section of my website are to the Khan Academy. It is a fantastic site and offers a unique online opportunity for practicing and learning the basic mathematical operations and much more. It is free to use and you only need to register if you want to track your progress.

In using the sections that I have linked to, I want to point out the following, wonderful, features. At the top are links to short, concise "Related Videos". If you are unsure about the operation you are working on, view them. They are great!

The other feature is on the right, "Need help? Get a hint."

The Khan Academy is a powerful, self learning tool.

I am always willing to help any student who wants extra help. You don't even have to be in my class. All you have to do is ask.
