days left in the school year.

heat-exhaustion-2Dear parents and guardians, it is now June and the heat is on.

In keeping with this theme, we will be turning our eyes in science class to the study of heat in the environment.

We have a number of interesting activities available that will explore how heat is transferred, how heat relates to temperature and even to cold, which is simply an absence of heat.

One of my favourite activities will be making ice cream in the classroom using ice and salt to create temperatures as low as -20 degrees Centigrade.

Our culminating task for this unit will be the construction of a container to see who can keep an ice cube from melting the longest. Your child will be required to bring in some supplies from home such as styrofoam cups and tin foil for this activity. I will send home specific requirements at a later date.

If you have any questions at all about our science curriculum contact me but please feel free to tell me to stop talking because I love all things scientific and have a tendency to carry on.

Mr. Grant

The pencils are in! Students disrespecting the pencil, or chewing gum will stay after class to sharpen 25 pencils.
